None Of My Business

„What other people think of me is none of my business“

What a concept to master! It can still be hard for me sometimes not to snoop around – what do others think of what I’m doing? Especially when you work with animals and do so in a positive, beneficial way for both you and the animal. Others who go about handling situations with force will throw you a critical look: „What does she think she’s doing? How weird.“

It’s none of my business and it’s none of yours. We do what we do because it gives us a good feeling in our bones and we know it’s right. Linda Parelli went even farther as to say, „What other people, or I, think of me is none of my business.“

So, any critical, down-putting thoughts coming from you are none of your business either. Not to say that you shouldn’t be critical of what you do, just don’t constantly put yourself down. If you find yourself doing that, change what you’re doing or learn to tune those voices out.

Performing in front of an audience, for example! To have a good time with your animal and do great, you can’t get frozen thinking, „What do they all think of me? Do they think I’m awful? This is a disaster!!“

No. Just remember, it’s none of your business what they think. This quote helped me so much when I performed at a Parelli event in Reno. With both my horse and my dog, it was a unique performance! There were a few moments where I felt others might be criticizing, but I had no real reason to think that. This quote popped up for me just in time. Remember this and rock on!
